Welcome Welcome to the latest issue of IP Matters, from Coller IP Management. With the tumultuous economic times around us and businesses concerned about sales and profit margins, it could be easy for organisations to forget that one of the greatest business threats comes not just from lack of sales but from the threat of not protecting, or fully valuing, your intellectual property. In this issue we focus on our recent work with academia. This is a topical issue, as the government is currently undertaking a review of how universities can use their IP to best effect and its findings are due to be published shortly and discussed at a conference in November. Jim Asher, our COO, describes the opportunities emerging in the academic and PSRE sectors. We are also working with organisations in the West Midlands to help them with IP issues, and a conference, also in November, will showcase what has been achieved to date. Finally, we thought you might like an insight into how we use specific tools and techniques to help our clients. While we by no means rely on these alone, they can be very helpful in understanding and solving the IP-related problems of the organisations we deal with. As Always, we welcome views and comments, so please email them to us at Coller IP Management. Jackie Maguire. CEO - October 2008 |
