David Segal provides technical advice on IP strategy and management, particularly on patenting processes. He combines expertise in patent searching and getting the best from the patenting process, with a broad background knowledge in technology. David’s skills are especially suited to IP landscaping activities within Coller IP Management and to advising on gaps in the market and supply chain.
David has undertaken a wide range of analytical work for clients across a broad spectrum of market sectors, encompassing the life sciences and physical sciences areas. This analytical work has included competitor analysis, patent searches in support of freedom to operate analysis and he has just completed various programmes of work in support of the provision of legal opinion for commercialisation and associated fund raising for novel technologies.
David is a Chartered Chemist and Fellow of the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining. He brings nearly 30 years of experience of undertaking a mix of technology development and fundamental scientific research. This has provided him with a good understanding not only of the technical challenges associated with such developments, but also a very good awareness of the challenges that need to be addressed when faced with commercial exploitation.
